I Am Legend - the movie

on friday we saw will smith in I Am Legend. I thought it was suspenseful and the infected were scary as all heck and I'll admit I cried when sam died. That was such a roller coaster of emotions for one movie. I even went to http://iamlegend.warnerbros.com to read the production notes for the movie. will trained on a strict diet and regime to train his routines and body for the part. they even took trips to the CDC to research virologists at work and how real of a possibility it is that we could create a cure that could evolve into a killer virus. i respect that this movie 1) has a great actor acting alone in the majority of the film; 2) takes the viewer through all the emotional trauma of living a solitary life for 3 years; 3) presents a character as hope aka light in the darkness; 4) bob marley's wisdom is a central element; and 5) it makes you think about how you will survive if you were alone or in a quarantine situation. if you haven't already, go see it. i keep thinking about scenes in the movie: one of the most memorable is after sam dies and he goes into the video store to say hello to the mannequin in the back. can't help getting teary-eyed thinking about it. see it, believe it.
