I love Pandora's online streaming music. I'm listening to Chicago, You're my Inspiration right now. In high school I became obsessed with '80's music and borrowed my friend Brianna's Billboard 1980's CDs to make mix tapes (yes it was a time before CDs and definitely pre-mp3's). The Footloose, Pretty in Pink and Flashdance soundtracks as well as Pat Benatar graced the mix tape cover. I have re-discovered the lost art of classic music. I have to admit that Brent doesn't think classic music lands in the 80's, he prefers classic rock- but nevertheless I love it! I could sing Chicago, Journey and Air Supply all weekend. Sometimes a song provides me inspiration in scrapbooking - I always wished my life had a soundtrack, just like the movies. I think I should make a soundtrack to my life for each month of a year... maybe after that I'll keep track of favorites yearly. Songs take you back in time, just like certain smells. I remember an ex-boyfriend always smelled like laundry detergent and my Grandaddy always smelled like cherry tobacco from his pipe.
Songs bring back memories, fond and not so fond... which is why I love scrapbooking and photography so much - I remember when I look at them. My memory is jogged if there is something written or a photograph of the event. Case and point, when I was visiting Erin she named and showed me three or four gifts I gave her that I don't remember giving. How sad is that? I can't be that forgetful yet, can I?
